NO FURTHER action will be taken to proceed with a compulsory purchase order (CPO) of Manston airport until further information has been received from the Government.

The committee will hold an oral evidence session to examine the future of Manston airport on Monday February 2, as part of an inquiry into smaller airports launched in July. A motion was put forward by Councillor Bayford that any further action to be taken on the CPO of Manston airport would be on receipt of new information from the Minister of Transport after the Commons session.

THE former Sainsbury’s store in Westwood is now being demolished and work on a new link road will start next month. The new multi-million pound superstore at Westwood opened in November in a project by the Harvest Partnership , a joint venture between Sainsbury’s and Westwood Cross owners Land Securities Once the old Margate Road store is completely demolished by mid-February work will start on the link road between Margate Road and New Haine Road. This will run over the site of the old store.
