Bob Mower
Bob Mower – Biography Bob has worked all over Kent on a number of stations and locations, his 30 odd years in radio having taken him from the rooftops of South London to a radio ship in the North Sea and then to Maidstone, Canterbury, Whitstable, then Maidstone again before heading back to Canterbury, Cliftonville, Ashford and Strood and now back here to Thanet and 107.8 Academy FM. Bob presents Mid Morning weekday's from 10 till 2.
Chris Jordan
Chris began his sporting pursuits skiing in Holland of all places! Aged 8 he began regularly skiing in competitions both in the UK and Europe and represented Great Britain from the age of twelve and spent seven years racing in FIS competitions.Chris is a jack of all trades not only 107.8 Academy FM's ace sports reporter he is often covering news and other shows.
Doc Atherton
Doc was born in Thanet District Hospital (now called the QEQM) and grew up in Ramsgate and went to Chatham House Grammar School, also in Ramsgate, where former Prime Minister Edward Heath attended, but he does not have plans to rule the country, just the airwaves on a Sunday Morning for Breakfast 7 till 10
Dominic Ashley
Dominic brings his own style of fun and zest for life to 107.8 FM and is part of the student presenter team and you will find him on the radio Thursday evening from 6pm with "Your Shout"
Glen Thompsett
Glen Thompsett joined the team in 2012 and as well as an experienced radio and tv presenter Glen runs his own company .Glen worked on Invicta FM in the 1980's and now entertains you on Sunday afternoons from 1pm till 4.
Horace
Horace was born in Dartford on the 21st September 1972 and moved to Broadstairs in 1974, because of his Dad's job. He went to Dame Janet School (Infants and Juniors) and in 1984 went to Conyngham School Ramsgate. At school Horace was very shy and would never stand on a stage ' Now you cant get him off one'. Horace presents "The Palace of Fun " on a Sunday afternoon 4 till 7.
Howard Evans
TLR (Thanet local radio) is where Howard’s radio career began when he met Pete Willson, Mike Stevens, Doc Atherton and Horace. Howard said, “Being reunited with these guys at 107.8 Academy FM has been a real pleasure, as they really are the cream of the broadcasters in Thanet”. In the ‘Big Blue Bus’ Howard traveled all around East Kent, broadcasting ‘live’, for TLR when they attended and hosted many local events.Howard presents Sunday Night Live and pops up all over the schedule as well as presenting outside broadcasts.
Jack Sayer
A Thanet lad born and bred and a student at the Marlowe Academy. Jack has worked very hard to get his own radio show and presents Monday's "Your Shout" from 6pm.
Jason Shuttleworth
Known at 107.8 Academy FM as " Appens" It's Jason Shuttleworth from up North. Jason is MAD about the 80's and loves presenting the Essential 80's every Friday.
Johnny Lewis
Johnny is a well known voice in this part of the world having been a Pirate Broadcaster on the original radio Caroline on the Mi Amigo and has worked on various Kent based stations.Johnny joined us in 2012 and presents Drivetime weekday's 2 till 6
Judy Lewis
Judy is a local Thanet lass and indeed Johnny's better half and since marrying Johnny it has to be said has "The Lad " under control !! Judy co host's The Sunday Request Show with Johnny from 10 till 2 so make sure you join them for our very own Richard and Judy experience !!
Mike Stevens
Mike was born in Bristol (many years ago) and first became a radio presenter in 1991 with the East Anglian radio station Mellow 1557 – now Dream 100. After 9 months he moved to Invicta Supergold in Whitstable and presented most of the station’s programmes during a six year run.
Paul Rutters
A former TLR presenter he has joined 107.8 Academy FM in 2012 and is reunited with many of his former colleagues .Paul is up and about early on a Saturday morning with Thanet's better Brekkie mix from 7 till 10
Pete Willson
Station Manager - Pete Willson is a true Thanet lad. Living in Ramsgate for most of his life Pete is well known as a Broadcaster in these parts because he was the founder of TLR – Thanet Local Radio and presented its successful breakfast show for many years and now get's you up and about weekday's from 6am for Breakfast.
Tom Brooks
Tom was born on the 1st of March 1997 at All Saints Tom is part of our student team at the Marlowe Academy. Tom is a great lover of Rock Music; favourite bands include Iron Maiden, Guns n’ Roses, AC/DC, Velvet Revolver, Metallica and the Red Hot Chili Peppers and he also plays guitar.He presents Friday" Your Shout" and the last hour tends to have a more Rock feel !!
Zach Webb
Zach is a Student at the Marlowe Academy and is a keen athlete and enjoy's long distance running.He loves rock music and is fond of Punk rock .Join Zach every Tuesday from 6pm for "Your Shout"
