Meet the trustees

As the Station & Programming Manager of Academy fm, I work very closely with the Trustees to ensure that the radio station meets its commitments to the community of Thanet, as well as ensuring the Ofcom and Charities Commission rules are followed. Its an absolute pleasure to work at Academy fm, and to work along side the Trustees.

A founding director and trustee of Academy FM Thanet. David first served on the board from 1st April 2010 to 21st January 2016 before re-joining on 1st April 2022. David is the Chief Executive of East Kent Chamber of Commerce.

Garry join the board of Trustees in April 2022. Garry is the Director of Caremark Thanet.

James is a director of Lawtonash Training services who provide apprenticeships and passport to work training to the construction industry. He is also the Chairman of Ramsgate Football Club where he spends much of his personal time working on community projects with the club. The football club and Academy fm work within the same areas and there is a lot of overlap between the community works of both charities.

Chris was born in Dartford & moved to Thanet in 1984. He has worked for Mellow 1557 in Frinton On-Sea & SGR in Ipswich. In 1994 he was MD for Thanet Sound who applied for the licence for Thanet which was awarded to TLR. He has worked on other radio stations in Kent & has interviewed some famous stars, including David Essex, Norman Wisdom, Jimmy Tarbuck, Harry Hill, just to name a few. He has an events company Classic Music & Motors & organise Classic Motor Shows.

Vic Todd is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Academy fm. As well as football, his favourite pastimes include golf, walking and swimming. Vic and his wife Gill live in Broadstairs and they have two sons and four grandchildren.
